A chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bende local government area of Abia state and a House Representatives aspirant Chief Benjamin Okezie Kalu has commended the local government congress committee over a successfully concluded congress in the state.

Kalu, who stated this in a chat with newsmen hailed the committee for the transparent manner the congress was conducted especially in the distribution process of the congress material which he said was not shared to party leaders, praising the committee for being in charge.

He also commended the security agencies especially the commissioner of police and the director of DSS in the state who he said gave their formidable best support. “They escorted us from here down to the various local governments. They did not leave us there. They ensured there is adequate security. Bende federal constituency experienced the most peaceful congress” he said.

He also thanked INEC for being at their best throughout the exercise. “We discovered that on arrival, INEC officials were on ground waiting. The electoral officer for Bende local government was there. The state also sent their representatives to Bende. So we had the local organising committee, security agencies and INEC. This ensured that the transparency was clear to everyone” he opined.

Kalu also thanked the delegates for their maturity and hailed the rancour and acrimony free environment under which the conduct took place. He expressed optimism that the successful ward and local government congresses in the state will usher in a state congress of the party slated to take place on Saturday.

“Suffice it to say as I have always said that there may be a minor number who may not be happy with what happened today. I’m sure the appeal committee will be brought back and this will be addressed. We have already set up a reconciliatory committee in Bende so that the concerns of those who are aggrieved would be addressed” he assured.

Kalu assured the people that at the end of the congress, it would go the democratic way and the voice of the people whom he described as the disciples of democracy heard and they become better for it.
