It’s a done deal as “Abraham Augustine Iseh” a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants who hails from ITUMBAUZO in Bende LGA of Abia State through his Abraham Support Group Network, sealed the deal yesterday 17th April, 2018 with Oceanic Health Management Limited for affordable health care that will take care of at least 50,000 individuals from the Bende LGA with emphasis on the Bende South (IKWU ISHII) Constituency.
The decision to enter into this contract stemmed from a fact finding survey carried out by the Abraham Support Group Network, which revealed that most of the people in Bende South (Ikwu Ishii) are experiencing Financial as well as Health Challenges which are synonymous and typical of rural areas without adequate infrastructure within Nigeria.
The community’s burden came upon Abraham, who then decided to help ameliorate the challenges of his people, which propelled him to take action in this direction.
The scheme once on stream is expected to help revitalize All the known health institutions and care givers in the entire Bende LGA. This will give them the opportunity to have the desired increase in traffic to their hospitals and clinics. Even those with health institutions that are not currently on the scheme will be encouraged to come on board.
It is expected that at the end of the day, the scheme would ultimately help create jobs for at least 1,500 people resident of Bende.
The Health care scheme is expected to kick off as soon as a sizeable number of individuals enroll into it. The project is meant to Carter for the less privileged individuals who are mainly traders, peasant farmers, Taxi and Bike Riders, Government workers, including all those who conducts their activities within Bende LGA.
The creation of the affordable health care scheme in Nigeria is part of the Federal Government health promotion strategy which attempts to achieve nationwide health coverage. As a result of the foregone, The National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS was established under Act 35 of 1999, and formally launched in 2003, to regulate and provide health insurance in Nigeria.
Programmes under the NHIS includes Formal sector programme, Informal Sector programme, Vulnerable group programme and others.
