The Deputy Chairman of the All Progressive Congress in Abia State Chief John Ogumnka has stated that Chief Donatus Nwankpa remains state’s authentic chairman of the party, urging members to disregard a Purported Court injunction allegedly obtained by a suspended member of the Party Chief Ikechi Emenike, claiming that he has dissolved the State working committee of the party.

He made this clarification while briefing newsmen in Umuahia the State Capital, adding that Emenike was suspended from the party at his ward due to anti party activities.

He also called on the National leadership of the party to immediately call Emenike to order, accusing him of making efforts to introduce disunity in the State chapter of the party.

The party chieftain stated that the APC in Abia State has remained peaceful, while its members across the 17 local Governments Areas of the State have been working tirelessly to increase their number with the aim of winning the 2019 governorship election in the State.

He pointed out that Emenike has not been taking part in the activities of the Party in the State since he was suspended from the Party and therefore has no authority to dissolve the state exco and nominate members of a parallel exco in the State.

“Emenike is a known spoiler in any political party belongs to, he was suspended because of his unholy union with the Peoples Democratic Party. That is why we called this meeting to address the rumours making the rounds regarding a purported move to unseat the State executive council of this party without following due process.

“We learnt that an injunction was obtained against the party Exco, though the injunction did not go through due process and it was not served formally on the State Chairman of our party or any member of the State executive council, we want members of the public to disregard the fake injunction.

“But in order to ensure that the peace that this party has enjoyed under the chairmanship of Chief Donatus Nwankpa since 2015 till now will not be destroyed, we want to appeal to our members to remain calm and we want to assured the National leadership of the party to know that there is no crisis in Abia State APC”, he said.

He said the APC in Abia is set to take over the State government House and as such will not allow Emenike whom he described as a perennial failure in politics to distract the party from achieving her aim.
