The governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah has defected to APC following threats by the Governor of River States, Nyesome Wike to slap him during PDP congress.
Business mogul and Chairman of Capital Oil Limited, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah has declared his intentions to vie for the upcoming Anambra State gubernatorial election.
On Wednesday.
To make this dream a reality, Ubah has concluded moves to pitch his tent with the ruling All Progressives Congress [APC].
It could be recalled that Chief Ifeanyi Ubah was full of praises for President Muhammadu Buhari sometimes last year.
The praises followed President Buhari’s order to release all his assets seized by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) over some debt matters.
Earlier, a Federal High court sitting in Abuja had ordered AMCON to pay Capital Oil a whopping 26 billion Naira and to release, with immediate effect, all seized assets.
Chief Ubah had cried that the former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan could not help him regardless of all his efforts to re-elect him using his Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria [TAN] platform.
He also lamented that his Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] did nothing to alleviate his woes.
Ubah, therefore, expressed succour that Buhari, whom he did not contribute in any manner to his emergence, has dried his tears.
Little wonder, then, that Chief Ubah has decided to pitch tent with the APC for the Anambra State governorship election which comes up Later this year.
Ubah will now slug it out with other APC stalwarts like Dr. Chris Ngige, Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, Chike Obidigbo et al for the top Anambra seat.
Recently, more Igbo leaders are identifying with APC heralding the alliance between north and southeast ahead of the 2019 general elections.
However, all the opposition forces have the incumbent governor, Willie Obiano, of the All Progressives Grand Alliance to contend with in the Anambra elections.

In a related development, Wike threatens to slap Ifeanyi Ubah at PDP ward delegates election.
“You think you are a thug? These things you brought are not thugs.”
Those were the words of Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, to Mr Ifeanyi Ubah, one of the governorship aspirants in Anambra state.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has gathered at the PDP Secretariat, at Udoka Estate, Awka, for the Ward Delegates Election.
An Elombah.com correspondent at the scene reported that Ifeanyi Ubah came with macho men and was becoming an irritant, but Wike charged at him:
“You think you are a thug? These things you brought are not thugs. You think you can buy me? You and the Federal Government cannot buy me. If you don’t leave now, I will beat you up outside in the presence of these things you brought as thugs. I will do it myself. Forget office now. My security details will not be involved.”
Controversy has dogged the PDP contest following reports of a plot by some party chieftains, (including Ifeanyi Ubah) from within and outside the state to sabotage the party in the interest of Governor Willie Obiano.
Governors Ifeanyi Okowa, Ayo Fayose, and Nyesom Wike stormed the state to ensure a level playing ground.
Wike the chairman of the committee was reportedly upset with Ubah’s intimidation who had earlier hobnobbed with the APC.
“Wike was visibly upset. He personally slapped all the boys they brought outside the party secretariat”, reports our correspondent.”
“Ifeanyi planned to disrupt the entire process. He underrated Wike”.
Controversies had continued to dog the ward delegates’ election which was supposed to produce three delegates from each ward to participate in the governorship primaries due this weekend.
However, several of the potential delegates who paid the N5,000 stipulated for the form were left helpless as they did not see the returning officers supposed to have conducted the primaries.
“We just don’t know what happened to the returning officers, and as I speak to you, several of the potential delegates are muttering that they were deceived into partaking in the delegate’s election knowing well that a pre-selected list of candidates had been earmarked.”
Sources say that a number of the returning officers earmarked for the ward congress in the 21 local government areas of the state were simply hijacked and taken away to secluded areas where it was feared that contrived lists of delegates favourable to some aspirants were being put together.
Wike today appeared at the PDP Secretariat to squelch controversies and was not happy at the number of people at the Secretariat.
He was also not happy at the number of supporters brought by Ubah to the Secretariat against his express instruction to allow only aspirant’s agents at the premises..
He therefore asked the aspirants to leave the premises go and campaign at the wards and not at the state capital to avoid disruptions.
Ubah was also accused of attempting to buy majority of the delegate forms to the disadvantage of the other aspirants.
