<<< Press Release: Release Prince Dan Iyke Now >>>
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere’. – Martin Luther King, Jr.
Our attention has been drawn to the unnecessary prolong detention by security agencies of Prince Dan Iyke a well-known critic of Abia State Deputy Governor Rt. Honorable Ude Oko Chukwu.
We are aware that Prince dan Iyke was first arrested for defamation of character by Rt. Honorable Ude Oko Chukwu on Wednesday 19th July 2017 and was granted bail on Monday 24th July 2017, only to be rearrested on Friday 4th August 2017 for extra charges as we gathered.
Abia State Online Media Practitioners are not against the Deputy Governor seeking redress where he finds necessary, but we will vehemently reject any form of illegal intimidation and detention of Prince Dan Iyke. The deputy governor cannot seek for justice through the means of injustice, remember the law says “he that come to equity must come with clean hands”.
We thereby appeal to Abia State Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu to please facilitate the immediate release of Prince Dan Iyke and channel his grievances to the court of law for proper adjudication.
It is important to put on record that Prince Dan Iyke is not a member of this notable association, but we will not fold our hands and watch another Abian being intimidated and unlawfully manhandled because he or she has no voice.
We advise that Prince Dan Iyke be released in the next 48 hours or we will focus Nigerian and World media on Abia State and the activities of the Deputy Governor.
Signed:
Emeh James Ayalekwa (President)
Emenike Jason Iroegbu (Secretary)
