Flood in Nigeria: Police discovers corpse of two-year-old boy in Jos

The Plateau State Police Command on Tuesday said the corpse of a two year old boy suspected to have been washed away by flood has been found at the Yan Shanu area of Jos North Local Government of the State.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Tyopev Mathias confirmed this to journalists in Jos.

Mathias said the corpse has been deposited at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, (JUTH) mortuary and called on members of the public looking for a male child of that age to contact the hospital.

“The NPF Plateau State Command wishes to inform members of the public of the discovery of a corpse of about two year old boy at Yan Shanu, Nassarawa Gwong on the 6th of July, 2017.

“Members of the public looking for a male child of the that age are advised to contact Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH mortuary for identification.”

The Command equally urged parents and guardians to “closely monitor their children and wards; including advising them against visiting odd places and keeping late hours” as these are to “protect them from falling victims of rape incidents which are on the increase in the State.”

The Police Spokesman, advised vehicle owners in the State to take appropriate security measures in safeguarding their vehicles.

“Vehicles should be secured with pedal or steering locks in addition to installing tracking devices to reduce incident of car theft and snatching,” he stressed.
