A renewed communal clash in Yala local government area of Cross River State has reportedly claimed scores of lives and properties worth millions of naira destroyed.
The incident, which started on Monday, is between the people of Wanikade and Wanihem in Ukelle North, and is associated with land dispute.
Residents in the area said that about 100 persons have been killed in this last conflict.
Confirming the incident on phone, the Cross River State Commissioner of Police, CP Hafiz Inuwa said that, actually, there was crisis in the area, but that only one person lost his life.
CP Inuwa also said that houses and properties were raided, stressing “It’s just a little misunderstanding and the matter has been settled with the help of the police and the military”.
