The residents of Amalgamated Estates Nkwelle-Ezunaka had a peaceful protest on Tuesday, 9th August, 2016 over the illegal replacement of 15MVA Power Transformer at EEDC 3-3 Junction by EEDC. The Amalgated Estates Nkwelle-Ezunaka is an umbrella body of all the estates in 3-3 and its environs comprising of about 30 estates.
The protesters who protested the previous week continued on Tuesday, 9th August, 2016. Some factions around Akpaka and Fedreal Housing Trans-Nkisi areas after being lobbied by EEDC consented to the replacement of the 15MVA Power Transformer with 7.5MVA Power Transformer.
The majority of the estates led by Hon. Simeon Ogude and Mr. Chikwelu Otuba (America) stood their ground. They insisted that the bigger power transformer be replaced with a lesser one; thus the protest.
It was funny to see EEDC to come back barely 30 minutes after the Tuesday’s protest to carry the said 15MVA Power Transformer. Some customers/protesters still around keeping watch over the power transformer prevented them from carrying the transformer. The C.P. Anambra State invited the warring parties on Wednesday, 10th August, 2016 for a peaceful resolution of the problem.
