Many Nigerians have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to focus on solving the challenges facing the country instead of complaining about the state of the economy.
The calls followed Buhari’s comments about the effect of the slump in oil prices on the economy.
The President had on Thursday said the country had suddenly become poor as a result of the sharp drop in the price of oil.
“Suddenly, we’re a poor country, but commitment to transparency and accountability is not making people know that there is severe shortage,” he said.
The comment split opinion on the social media with some people expressing support for the President and others accusing his administration of failing to take appropriate steps to address the country’s challenges.
Some others faulted the President’s claim that Nigerians were not feeling the full impact of the economic crisis because of the efforts of his administration.
