The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has allegedly sealed a deal with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to become Nigeria’s President in 2023. Okorocha appears confident that Buhari will hand over to him in 2023 as he has pledged not to contest against the President in 2019.
Speaking in Owerri, the Imo State capital, Okorocha told Journalists that as much as he has made up his mind not to challenge President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 Presidential poll, he would offer himself for the position after the end of Buhari’s tenure.
“Governor does not fit me. What fits me is President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I will not contest against Buhari in 2019, I will do so in 2023.”
Recall, that last month, the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, had warned the Igbos about Okorocha’s aim to rule Nigeria in 2023.
Ihedioha, in an interview with the Vanguard, had said that Okorocha is going about his ambition the wrong way, because if any party wants to project him, they would be interested in his performance.
