Anambra Guber: 45 communities In Anambra South Adopt Ezeemo

The 45 communities that make up Old Aguata Union
(OAU) at the weekend adopted Godwin Chukwunenye
Ezeemo of the Progressives Peoples Alliance (PPA) as
their choice for the November 18, 2017 governorship
election in Anambra State.
Clement Onyemobi, chairman of the Movement For
Greater Anambra State (MOFGAS) moved a motion for
Ezeemo, an industrialist, to be adopted as OAU sole
candidate in the governorship election while Emeli
Vincent and Prince Joe Emenike moved same motion for
Orumba South and North. Ezeemo, in his address said every zone in Anambra has
had its turn in the governance of the state and so
“Government House at Agu Awka is vacant and
somebody has got to fill it and that person must come
from Aguata.”

Meanwhile, Movement for National Integration (MNI),
yesterday said it would support the United Progressives
Party (UPP) in the forthcoming governorship election in
Anambra State.
Members of the group are said to be loyalists of the late
Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
Some members of the group who also played vital roles
in the survival of the All Progressives Grand Alliance
(APGA) said their decision to back the UPP was due to
alleged “nepotistic tendencies” of Governor Willie
Obiano.
Making their stand known to newsmen in Neni, Anaocha
Local Government Area of the state, spokesman of the
group, Chief Ben Ezeibe said the incumbent APGA
governor in Anambra State plays “politics of exclusion,”
adding that there were lack of open government and
consultation of the business class in decision making in
the state.
The chairman and secretary of the organising committee
of the event, Prince Joe Emenike and Dan- Chibo Umeh
lamented that because of its abundant human and
material resources, “OAU sons are the major power
brokers in the state, but we never saw any need to use
the opportunity to advance the developmental fortunes of
OAU or project our own to the highest level of power in
the state.
“We were plunged into slavery from which we are yet to
regain freedom, otherwise, why are we in the habit of
holding the ladder for other zones to climb to power only
to turn round and grumble that we are side-lined”
They listed some of the leading lights of Nigeria who hail
from the area as former vice president Dr. Alex
Ekwueme, late industrialist Chief Mathias Ugochukwu,
former governor of the Central Bank, Professor Charles
Soludo, former governor Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Senator
Andy Ubah and his brother Chris, Catholic Bishop of
Awka, Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor, Bishop of
Ahiara Diocese Most Rev. Dr. Peter Okpaleke, Anglican
Bishops of Ogbaru, Most Rev, Dr, Chukwudi Ezeofor
and his counterpart at Amichi, Rt. Rev. Ephraim Ikeako.
