Borno PDP Grassroots Stakeholders, a faction of the People’s Democratic Party in the state, has expressed opposition to the ruling which declared Ali Modu Sheriff as the National Chairman.
This came as the state chapter declared its “total support” for Sheriff, noting that the All Progressives Congress, APC, would start feeling the heat ahead of the 2019 general elections with Ali Sheriff main opposition leader.
But the group, in a communiqué signed by its chairman, Usman Ibrahim, declared its total support for the Ahmed Makarfi led faction of the party.
“We the grassroots stakeholders of Borno PDP unanimously agreed to the leadership of Senator Ahmed Makarfi caretaker committee of our great party,” it reads in part.
“We also concur with the decision taken by the Makarfi group to wait for the Supreme Court judgment and any other decision that will be taken.
“We want to call on our grassroots stakeholders who were unable to attend this meeting to stay calm and make law-abiding our attitude being pioneer members of this great party”, he stated.
