The Spanish La Liga are planning to take FIFA to court, after the world football governing body announced the expansion of the World Cup to 48 teams
According to Sky Sports, a senior source from the league, says they will do everything possible to reverse the decision.
La Liga had warned FIFA president Gianni Infantino, that they would take legal action if they went ahead with the plans.
The Spanish say they were not consulted before the decision was taken, especially as the new format which kicks in from 2026, will see number of players taking part increase by 50%.
“We are not happy at all. We are providing extra players but we have not been consulted. We are looking at ways in which we can challenge today’s decision,” the source said.
