BREAKING!!! Stampede in T.B. Joshua’s Synagogue Church, 3 Confirmed Dead
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that at least 3 people lost their lives during a stampede that occurred during a church program at the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) headquarters at 1 Segun Irefin Street, Ikotun – Egbe Road, Lagos on Saturday 10 December 2016.
According to eyewitness, the deceased victims of the mishap were identified as Emeka Okonkwo and Emmanuel Oherin while the third person’s name hasn’t been documented. The stampede was said to have occurred during a healing service by SCOAN founder Pastor Temitope Joshua.
The eyewitness continued that,
“It was the church’s annual deliverance and healing programme. Usually at this time, the church becomes a beehive of activities as people come in their thousands to see the prophet for miracles.
“People lodge in different hotels surrounding the church. And they all arrive at the church very early.
“There is a canopy on the premises where worshippers are screened before they see the man of God.
“However, on Saturday, after being screened, the crowd was much and they started struggling through the doorway to see the prophet.
“In the process, three people collapsed. They were rushed to the Isolo General Hospital, where they were confirmed dead.”
In a statement by SP Dolapo Badmos, the Lagos Police PRO confirmed the incident saying:
“The story is true. Investigation is ongoing as we await the result of the autopsy. For now, we are treating the case as sudden and unnatural deaths.”
However, when contacted by journalist Samson Folarin who works with Punch Newspapers, the official phone number of the church denied the incident saying,
“Nothing happened on the church premises yesterday. Nobody died. Nobody. Thank you.”
