Why i don’t accept gifts - Aisha Buhari Opens up

Aisha Buhari has said she he does not intend to collect gifts as the wife of the president even in the future.

Speaking at the launch of a new campaign against graft tagged, “Women Against Corruption” in Abuja, on Wednesday Aisha said she did not also intend to collect gifts as the wife of the president even in the future.

 

She said: “People have been trying to bring some gift items to me but I have not been collecting them. Right from when I was campaigning with the Wife of the Vice President for our husbands, we did not take a dime from anyone and we have continued like that till today.

 

“I have never collected any gift and I am not ready to do so even in the future.” she said to the received thunderous applause from the audience.

 

 

Recall that the EFCC disclosed that Nigerian Women Against Corruption, (WAC), was initiated based on the significant role of women in the family and in the society at large.

 

Tha anti-graft agency had said: “WAC is aimed at getting the women to buy into the corruption fight and to raise the consciousness of the consequences of corruption in the minds of their household in particular and also to create awareness of the evil of corruption in the larger society.”

 

EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu reportedly endorsed programme on the basis that the women engagement will enhance the fight against corruption.
