Military Has Shown Confidence By Entering Into Sambisa Forest – Okorocha

As Army begins training of operation python dance

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State Yesterday said the Nigeria Army has demonstrated it readiness to stamp out terrorism in the country by gaining control over the stronghold of the Bokoharam sect called “Sambisa forest. ”

 

He made this statement when the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General, Turkur Yusuf Burutai, led his team on a courtesy call to Governor Okorocha at Government House in Owerri.

 

He said, ” You have done a great work in the fight against terrorism by the Bokoharam in Nigeria even the Sambisa forest considered to be the stronghold of Bokoharam have been taken over by Nigeria Army. ”

 

 

It was the view of Okorocha that ” Terrorism has become a daily occurrence in the world even most of the wealthy nations are still fighting to curtail the trend. But I want to say thanks to Nigeria Army, you have done us proud. ”

 

He added that, ” Imo is one of the safest state in Nigeria” according to Okorocha ” We were able to archive peace in this state because of the good relationship among the Army, Police and the local security network. ”

 

Responding, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Turkur Burutai , said they were in the State for the Chief of Army Staff Conference which he said was an “annual ritual ” occasion for them, “as well as train our men for the operation python dance”.

 

Explaining the need for the conference, he said, ” We gather annually to x-ray, look at our operations, logistics, general performances of the army in the past year ” adding ” We have come together to know what transpired in one year and what we have in the future. ”

 

Furthermore, “We properly scrutinize, analyse and projections are made. We also take far reaching decisions for Nigeria Army in the coming year .”
