4 People Dead, Others Injured In Multiple Crash In Abia (Graphic Photos)

Today is a sad day in Umuahia as at least four people were confirmed dead at the Federal Medical Center(FMC),Umuahia, Abia State following a multiple auto crash that occurred along Ubakala axis of the Enugu/ Port- Harcourt express way.

According to an eyewitness,4 vehicles were involved in the crash, including a Toyota Hilux van with registration number CG 539RSH, a Peugeot J5 bus with registration No XA 874 AKW, and a Mercedes Benz tipper with registration no EGG 555 YG, while the fourth vehicle said to be a commercial bus had been towed out of the scene before our reporter arrived.

 

 

 

One of the victims named Abdulhamid Abubakar blamed over speeding on the side of the Hilux van driver as the cause of accident.According to him,they were 4 in number in a Peugeot J5 bus travelling from Lafia, Nasarawa to Aba to sale bags of garden eggs and oranges when the accident happened.He said he was in the Peugeot with 3 of his friends, Husaini Tanko, Imamu Abubakar and Ibrahim Abubakar.

 

The accident happened when the vehicle in front of them applied brake with force as it was trying to dodge an oncoming Hilux van that was about to overtake a tipper in front of it.The bus in front of them lost control and rammed into the bush while they rammed into it and their bus somersaulted and later caught fire. The hilux also rammed into the tipper it was trying to overtake.Unfortunately one of his friend died while 2 others were injured.At least 4 people lost their lives in the tragedy
