BREAKING!!! Nigerian Labour Leader Shot Dead Following Face-off With Govt

A Nigerian Labour leader in Kogi State, Mallam Abdulmumuni Yakubu, has been killed in Okene, Kogi State by unknown gunmen.

The ongoing efforts to resolve the crisis rocking the Kogi State civil service recorded a major setback on Thursday as the organised labour suspended the negotiations between it and the state government.

This was sequel to the murder of the State Chairman of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, Science and Technology Education Board, Abdulmumini Yakub.

Yakub was allegedly murdered at Ozuwaya, in Okene Local Area of Kogi State alongside one Ibrahim Otaru who reportedly came to discuss some community issues with him.

Sources close to the family disclosed to our Correspondent that the two men were murdered by heavily armed men when they were performing ablution for prayer.

The source added that five suspected assassins alighted from a Toyota Sienna bus and opened fire on them.

The gunmen allegedly ensured that the victims were dead before they drove off from the scene.

“Mallam Abdulmumin Yakub was at Ozuwaya in front of his house when he was killed by unknown gunmen. He was shot in the head, together with one other person,” the source said.

Until his death, Abdulmumin Yakub was an employee of Kogi State Science Teachers Board, Lokoja, Kogi State NASU Chairman and Ozuwaya Community Chairman.
