The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspects over the alleged murder and robbery of a family at Oloba Village in the Lagelu Local Government Area of Ibadan.

The suspects were identified as Hammed Akinbami, Akinbami Ojo and Padonu Edward, all residents of Oloba Village.

The police said the incident occurred on September 22, 2026, at about 7pm, while credible information about the attack was received by the command on October 2.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects invaded the residence of Ifeanyi Chukwu, his wife and their four children.

The suspects were allegedly armed with a locally made dane gun, two cutlasses and a club.

During the attack, the family was robbed of ₦200,000 cash, a Boxer motorcycle, a Doma machine with chainsaw and a spraying machine.

The police said Hammed Akinbami allegedly shot the husband, while Akinbami Ojo and Padonu Edward attacked the wife, hitting her on the head.

The suspects allegedly tied two of the children by their hands and legs before throwing them into a nearby river, while the other members of the family were also killed and their bodies dumped in the river.

Following the attack, detectives visited the scene and recovered the family’s Boxer motorcycle, one locally made Dane gun, two cutlasses and a club.

The three suspects were subsequently arrested and detained.

The police said the suspects confessed to their involvement during interrogation.

The remains of the wife have been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to recover the remains of the other four victims.

The suspects and case file will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, for further investigation and legal action.

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, directed a thorough investigation into the case and ordered that all persons found culpable be brought to justice.
