Two Nigerians Serving In US Air Force Jailed For Cyber Fraud

Two Nigerians who were serving in the US Air Force have been sentenced to prison for their roles in an international cyber fraud scheme

Chijioke Timothy Odimegwu was sentenced to 111 months in a federal prison, while Harafat Mogaji was sentenced to 78 months.

The two men were found to have targeted businesses and nonprofits across the United States. They used stolen credit card information and phishing emails to redirect funds and payments into accounts controlled by their network. The network took $1.68 million from one victim in the US state of Iowa and over $720,000 from another in Ohio.

Odimegwu was ordered to pay about $366,600 in restitution and Mogaji about $995,700. The FBI investigated the case with assistance from the US Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
