Enugu – The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) South-East Youth Wing on Saturday, 20th September, 2026 stormed Enugu State to kick-off its highly anticipated 10-day state-to-state market and campus tour.
The tour, themed _“Building the New Nigeria: Message from the Ground Up,”_ is aimed at engaging grassroots stakeholders and mobilizing young Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The zonal delegation led by the South-East Zonal Youth Leader, Mazi Igwe Ogbonnaya, was received by the Enugu State Youth Leader, Engr. Jideofor Richard, at the party’s campaign office in Enugu.
Addressing newsmen shortly after their arrival, Mazi Ogbonnaya said the tour is a strategic move by the NDC to take its message directly to the people, where they live, work, and study.
“This is not business as usual. We are taking the NDC’s message to the markets, to the campuses, to the streets. Our mission is to sensitize Ndi Enugu on the need to not only vote for NDC but to protect their votes in 2027,” he said.
He noted that the NDC remains the only credible alternative to rescue Nigeria, adding that the youth wing is poised to deliver over 90% of South-East votes for the party in the forthcoming elections.
On his part, Engr. Jideofor Richard welcomed the zonal team and assured them of the readiness of Enugu youths to lead the charge for the NDC’s victory in the state.
“We in Enugu are ready. Our markets are ready, our campuses are ready. Enugu youths are tired of old politics. We want a new Nigeria, and NDC represents that new Nigeria,” he stated.
The tour, which runs from 20th to 30th September, 2026, will cover all 5 South-East states, with Enugu serving as the flag-off state. Activities lined up include market sensitization, campus town hall meetings, and engagement with traders associations, students’ unions, and youth groups across the 17 local government areas of the state.
The event is expected to attract massive participation from youths, students, traders and other stakeholders across Enugu State.
