UMUAHIA – The Reality Organisation, one of the most formidable political structures and a key support group founded by the Kalu dynasty in Abia State, has rejected the purported reconciliation efforts by the Chijioke Chukwu-led State Working Committee (SWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Describing the move as a “face-saving exercise,” the group is now calling for the immediate dissolution of the committee.
In a press statement issued on Monday and signed by Dimgba Okereke for the group, Reality Organisation said the withdrawal of the threat of disciplinary action against Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and other party members was a “confused retreat from an indefensible position” that should never have been taken in the first place.
“Chijioke Chukwu and his State Working Committee cannot manufacture a crisis, publicly embarrass respected leaders of the party, issue threats and ultimatums, fail to substantiate the alleged offence, and then suddenly proclaim reconciliation when their ultimatum expires without compliance,” the statement read.
The group insisted that Senator Kalu committed no anti-party offence, arguing that his prediction during a television interview that Governor Alex Otti could win re-election in 2027 was not an endorsement.
“A prediction is not an endorsement. No amount of political sophistry can transform one into the other,” Reality Organisation stated.
The group also accused the State Working Committee of selective application of party discipline, pointing to statements by Senator Emma Nwaka, Rt. Hon. Christopher Enweremadu, Prof. ACB Agbazuere, and Hon. Benjamin Kalu, which it said had not attracted similar threats or ultimatums.
“Party discipline cannot become an instrument of political vendetta, selectively deployed against perceived opponents while allies and associates are conveniently shielded from scrutiny,” the group argued.
Reality Organisation further described the Abia APC State Chairman, Chijioke Chukwu, as lacking the “political temperament, neutrality and leadership capacity” required to unite the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“A State Chairman cannot administer a political party on impulse, selective outrage and narrow political calculations. Leadership demands fairness, consultation, maturity, sound judgment, and the capacity to accommodate the diverse tendencies within a large political family,” the statement said.
The group called on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC to urgently intervene and dissolve the present State Working Committee, arguing that it has demonstrated an inability to provide “impartial, credible and unifying leadership.”
“A party preparing to seriously challenge for power in 2027 cannot afford a leadership that manufactures crises in August and begins searching for reconciliation before the end of the same month. That is not strategy. It is political confusion and an unmistakable failure of leadership,” the statement added.
Reality Organisation announced that it would convene a meeting in October to review the political situation within the Abia State APC and determine the appropriate leadership direction for its members and supporters. Okereke stated that the group’s loyalty to the party must not be confused with submission to incompetent leadership.
“The APC is not the personal property of Chijioke Chukwu or any individual, tendency or political bloc. Those who believe they can exploit temporary positions within the party to intimidate others, manufacture disciplinary offences and determine who deserves political relevance will ultimately discover that a political party derives its strength from its members, not from the transient titles of those occupying its offices,” the group stated.
“Chijioke Chukwu had an opportunity to unite the Abia APC. He has failed. The National Working Committee must now act before the damage becomes irreversible,” Reality Organisation concluded.
