A young Nigerian innovator, Victor Bassey, has presented a locally developed walkie-talkie communication system to members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), showcasing the potential of homegrown technology to address real-world challenges.

According to Bassey, who shared the development on his Facebook account, the project was presented before seasoned engineers, including Master’s degree holders and PhD experts, at the NSE headquarters.
One of the highlights of the presentation was a live demonstration of the device, which maintained clear and uninterrupted communication over a distance of approximately 40 meters with minimal interference and excellent audio quality. The practical performance reportedly impressed many of the engineers present.
Bassey noted that the innovation has great potential for security operations, local surveillance networks, event management, industrial communication, and other organizational uses. He called for sponsorship, partnership, or investment to further improve the device and mass-produce it to meet real-world communication needs.
He welcomed support from individuals, organizations, government agencies, and private companies interested in promoting local innovation and technological advancement.
Bassey’s walkie-talkie system joins a growing list of locally developed communication and assistive technologies from Nigerian innovators .
