…Trump Orders End to Naval Blockade, Reopens Strait of Hormuz
President Donald Trump has announced that a peace deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete, marking a major turning point in months of military and diplomatic confrontation between both nations.

In a post on Truth Social on Sunday, June 14, 2026, Trump declared that Iran has agreed never to acquire a nuclear weapon, ending years of tension over its nuclear ambitions.
“The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Iran will not build a Nuclear Weapon. Not now, Not Ever,” Trump wrote.
A senior White House official confirmed to IgbereTV that Iran had formally agreed to permanently forgo any efforts to develop or obtain a nuclear weapon as part of the agreement.
Trump also announced the immediate removal of the United States naval blockade on Iranian ports and the toll-free reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
“I hereby fully authorize the toll-free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
“Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!”
The agreement extends the existing ceasefire for an additional 60 days and includes the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon, according to a senior administration official.
As part of the deal, the United States will release approximately $24 to $35 billion in frozen Iranian assets. The thorniest nuclear issues, including the fate of Iran’s uranium enrichment program, have been deferred for 60 days of follow-up negotiations.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council confirmed that a Memorandum of Understanding had been finalized with Washington after “months of long and difficult negotiations,” with Pakistan and Qatar serving as chief mediators.
The formal signing ceremony will take place on Friday, June 19, 2026, in Geneva, Switzerland.
