Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau has been announced as the APC consensus candidate for the Kano North senatorial election in 2027, following the withdrawal of former Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo.
Gwarzo agreed to drop his ambition after a request from President Tinubu, delivered through Vice President Shettima on Monday.
After Monday’s meeting with Vice President Shettima, Gwarzo formally withdrew from the race at a follow-up meeting of key APC stakeholders from Kano North held yesterday at the Kano State Government House.
The meeting was attended by Governor Abba Yusuf, former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, House of Representatives member Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, Kano State APC Chairman Umar Haruna Doguwa, and Deputy Governor Murtala Sule Garo.
