The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is set to hold its 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions on Monday, May 11, 2026. Key decisions, particularly the minimum Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 academic session, are expected to be made at the meeting.
This information was contained in a statement released on Sunday by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.
According to Benjamin, the meeting will take place at the Body of Benchers Auditorium, Plot 688, Institute and Research District, FCC Phase III, Jabi, Abuja. It will assemble major stakeholders in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
He added that the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, will unveil major policy directions at the event.
The statement described the annual policy meeting as a vital platform where stakeholders determine the minimum acceptable UTME scores, admission guidelines, and overall policies for tertiary institutions. It is also expected to formally kickstart the 2026/2027 admission cycle while stressing the importance of strict compliance with all stipulated guidelines.
Participants will include vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, registrars, and admission officers of various institutions, as well as officials from regulatory bodies such as the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), among others.
Goodwill messages are also expected from agencies including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The event will equally feature the 6th edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards, which aims to encourage adherence to admission rules and raise standards in tertiary education nationwide.
