David Mark Meets Ex-ADC Lawmakers After Defections In National Assembly

The national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has held a crucial meeting with representatives of the party’s former federal lawmakers following a wave of defections in the National Assembly.

On Tuesday, 17 members of the House of Representatives left the ADC and joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Their defection letters were read during plenary by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.

The lawmakers came from different constituencies across the country, including Kano, Anambra, Lagos, Edo and Rivers States.

Another lawmaker, Leke Abejide from Kogi, also left the ADC but moved to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Many of the lawmakers said they left due to leadership problems and legal disputes within the party.

In a post on X, Kola Ologbondiyan, Mark’s technical adviser on strategic communication, confirmed the meeting in Abuja.

“The representatives of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) former Federal Lawmakers in a crucial meeting with the party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, Wednesday,” he wrote.

He did not provide details of what was discussed at the meeting, and the party’s spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, has yet to release an official statement.
