Nigerian Man Convicted Of Rape In The UK, Lawmaker Seeks Death Penalty

UK Lawmaker Demands Death Penalty For Nigerian Convicted Rapist, Other “Savage Animals”

A British lawmaker, Rupert Lowe, has called for the death penalty against a 24-year-old Nigerian national, Gift Oladele, who was sentenced to 17 years in prison for raping a 19-year-old woman in Wrexham, United Kingdom.

Lowe made the remark on his X (formerly Twitter) account, openly criticising the UK’s justice system and questioning the country’s immigration policies in the wake of the conviction.

According to Lowe, Oladele, who had previously avoided deportation, dragged a young woman into nearby woods and carried out what authorities described as a “violent rape.” At the time of the attack, he was already on bail over a separate rape allegation.

Reports by BBC revealed disturbing details about the convict, noting his apparent “fascination” with forced sexual abuse. In the latest case, he reportedly “grabbed [the victim] by the mouth and forced her into woods,” where the assault occurred.

The case has drawn heightened scrutiny because Oladele had previously fought deportation and won.

In 2024, an immigration tribunal ruled in his favour despite acknowledging the severity of his prior offences.

The judge described the case as “finely balanced,” noting both the “very serious” nature of his crimes and the “strong public interest in deporting and excluding foreign criminals.”

However, the tribunal ultimately decided against deportation, citing his personal circumstances.

The ruling emphasised that Oladele would be “a complete outsider” if returned to Nigeria and had developed a “private life” after growing up in the UK.

Meanwhile, the same judgment also warned that he posed an “exceptionally high risk of harm to young women.”

Lowe, reacting to the latest conviction, blasted the decision, asking why authorities failed to act before the latest attack.

“What the h*ll are we doing to ourselves? Honestly?

“Two words. Death penalty.

“Restore Britain would give the British people a say if they want savage animals like this put to death,” he added.
