A yet-to-be-identified man reportedly jumped off the Third Mainland Bridge in an apparent attempt to end his life, causing panic among commuters and onlookers.
The incident occurred on the busy bridge, which connects Lagos Island to the mainland and is one of the most heavily used routes in the city. Witnesses said the man was seen behaving unusually before climbing over the railing and plunging into the lagoon below.

Emergency responders and security operatives were alerted shortly after the incident, with efforts reportedly underway to determine the man’s condition and locate him. Authorities are yet to confirm his identity or provide full details surrounding the circumstances.
This development has sparked renewed concerns over mental health awareness and safety measures on major public infrastructure in Lagos.
Similar incidents have been recorded in the past, with some individuals rescued by security agencies, while others unfortunately lost their lives after jumping into the lagoon.
Authorities are expected to launch an investigation and have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or distressed behaviour around public spaces.
