Akah Excel Chidiebere Declares Bid for Ebonyi Assembly, Vows to End ‘Years of Neglect’

A top business Mogul, Akah Excel Chidiebere, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of Member representing Ohaukwu South Constituency in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, pledging to address what he described as years of neglect and underrepresentation in parts of the constituency.

In a statement released on April 12, 2026, the aspirant said his decision followed “careful observation, wide consultations, and a sincere reflection on the current realities” facing the people.

He said, “I, Akah Excel Chidiebere, with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to the progress of our people, formally declare my intention to vie for the position of Member representing Ohaukwu South Constituency.”

Chidiebere stressed that his ambition was driven not by personal interest but by a desire to restore fairness and inclusive development across the constituency. According to him, there remains a disconnect between the expectations of the people and the quality of representation they have received over the years.

“I am motivated by the need to restore hope, promote fairness, and ensure that every community within Ohaukwu South enjoys purposeful representation and inclusive development,” he said.

He outlined his priorities to include effective lawmaking, grassroots development, youth empowerment, improved education, healthcare, and support for farmers and small businesses.

The aspirant particularly highlighted the concerns of Umuagara/Amechi ward, which he claimed has been sidelined politically since 1999.

“I stand today not just as a candidate, but as a voice—a protester for the abandoned and neglected people of Amechi/Umuagara ward,” he said. “For too long, we have watched from the margins while others have taken their turn.”

Chidiebere also referenced an existing zoning arrangement between blocs in the constituency, arguing that power rotation should now favour his area. He noted that previous representatives from Ngbo had completed multiple tenures, including extended stays in office.

“For the sake of equity, fairness, and justice, it is only right that power now rotates to the Umuagara/Amechi ward,” he added.

He called on stakeholders, including youths, women, traditional leaders, and elders, to support what he described as a movement for justice and inclusion.

“This is more than a candidacy—it is a struggle for justice, a call for unity, and a mission for change,” he said.

Chidiebere concluded by urging residents of Ohaukwu South to rally behind his ambition, expressing confidence that collective action could “rewrite the story” of the constituency and ensure balanced representation going forward.
