Explosions were heard in the Iranian capital early Saturday morning after the Israeli military launched a surprise assault, according to reports from state-run media in Tehran.

Ahead of the operation, the Israel Defense Forces issued an urgent nationwide advisory, instructing citizens to remain near fortified rooms and shelters. The military clarified the reasoning behind the alert, stating: “This is a proactive alert to prepare the public for the possibility of missiles being launched toward the State of Israel.”
The strikes mark a significant escalation, with a security source confirming to Walla that the United States is involved in the operation.
In Tehran, the targeting appeared focused on intelligence infrastructure. Iranian media reported that the IRGC Intelligence Directorate was hit, along with additional sites in the central part of the city.
Meanwhile, citing an Iranian official, Reuters reported that Supreme Leader Ayatolla Ali Khamenei has been moved out of Tehran and taken to a “secure location.” There have been no indications of missile fire directed at Israeli territory thus far.
