It is staged by the riverside of the historic Matan Fada, recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

It was first held in 1934 as a peace initiative between the Sokoto Caliphate and the Kebbi Kingdom and has grown into a major tourism and cultural showcase.

Saturday’s trip is Tinubu’s first visit to Kebbi State.
