20-Year-Old Nigerian Student, Khaleed Oladipo Stabbed To Death In The Uk

A 20-year-old United Kingdom based Nigerian student, Khaleed Oladipo, has died in the hospital after he was stabbed on Tuesday in Oxford Street, Leicester, police said.

Oladipo, a cyber security student at De Montfort University was fatally stabbed in the chest close to the university campus.

The Leicestershire Police said an 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of his murder and remains in police custody while extensive inquiries are being carried out.

The deceased, who was living in Leicester but was from London, was in his second year at DMU. A post-mortem examination has been carried out and found that Oladipo died as a result of a stab wound to the chest.

Police said it was called to reports a man had collapsed in Oxford Street, close to the junction with Bonners Lane, just after 17:00 GMT on Tuesday.

Several roads were closed after the stabbing including Infirmary Road, Oxford Street, Infirmary Square, Carlton Street, York Road, Lower Brown Street, The Gateway and Gosling Street.

Four ambulances and an air ambulance scrambled to the city centre and Khaleed was rushed to hospital, but he sadly died a short time later.

In a tribute, his devastated family described him as an “extremely loved” boy.

His family thanked the members of the public who stopped to try and help Oladipo, and paid tribute to the ambulance service and hospital staff.

They said they believed the Arsenal supporter was going home to watch his side play when it happened.

“Khaleed was a good boy who loved his family. He was in his second year at university, and we were so proud of him.

“One of his main passions was football and he had played since the age of four. He was an Arsenal supporter and we believe he was on his way home to watch the game later that night when he was stabbed and killed.
