Severe traffic congestion hit the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Friday following the overturning of a fully loaded truck on Otedola Bridge, Lagos.
The incident resulted in a massive gridlock, stretching from Otedola Bridge to Berger, as motorists heading into Lagos were left stranded with limited alternative routes. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command confirmed the development in a post on its official Facebook page, noting that the accident triggered a secondary crash behind the initial incident.
βIn the first incident, a fully loaded truck overturned, spilling its consignments onto the road and covering about 90 per cent of the carriageway. The second accident occurred directly behind the first crash, compounding traffic disruption in the area,β the RRS stated.
Emergency responders were immediately alerted, while motorists were advised to exercise caution when approaching the area.
Confirming the situation, Adebayo Taofiq, spokesperson of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), said traffic officers were already on the ground to manage vehicular movement and assist with rescue and recovery operations.
Efforts were ongoing to clear the overturned truck and spilled cargo to restore free flow of traffic on the affected section of the expressway.
