Two passengers sustained critical injuries in a road accident involving a commercial bus in the early hours of the day along the Heritage Garden stretch of the Oshodi–Oke route in Lagos State. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident in a statement, noting that the crash involved a red commercial Tata long bus with registration number MUS 507 XX.

According to preliminary investigations, the accident was caused by excessive speeding, which led the bus to ram into a moving truck along the corridor.
LASTMA officials disclosed that the truck reportedly drove away from the scene shortly after the collision without sustaining visible damage, making immediate identification and apprehension difficult.
Traffic authorities were alerted promptly and responded to the scene, where two passengers were found critically injured and trapped inside the damaged bus.
LASTMA officers successfully rescued the victims and immediately activated emergency response protocols. The Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) was contacted, and the injured passengers were administered first aid before being transported to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.
To prevent secondary accidents and ease traffic congestion along the busy route, LASTMA officials apprehended the bus driver for questioning and ensured the swift removal of the wrecked vehicle from the road.
Reacting to the incident, the General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed sympathy with the injured passengers and wished them a speedy recovery.
He described the accident as avoidable and warned motorists against reckless driving, stressing that speeding remains one of the leading causes of road crashes in Lagos.
