The Sokoto State chapter of the Eastern Union (EU), led by the State Coordinator, Elder Comrade Godwin Egwu, and the State Woman Leader, Mrs Ijeoma Emebo, led the delegation of 15 members of the State chapter to pay a solidarity visit to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at Sokoto State Correctional Centre recently.

According to a statement signed by Hon. Charles Anike, the EU National President, the delegates were warmly received by Mazi Kanu who expressed joy over the existence of an organisation like the Eastern Union and promptly promised to belong to the EU.
He was very happy for the solidarity visit, which took place on December 20, especially after reading through a letter delivered to him from the National President of the EU, Hon. Charles Anike on behalf of the organisation.
Mazi Kanu, after reading through the letter of encouragement and solidarity, was very happy, and instantly prayed for the members of the EU and advised them to be strong, courageous and should not relent in the pursuit of good governance, and better life forNdigboacross the country.
The delegates offered him the EU insignia, for which he gladly collected, and further expressed strong faith in God and optimism for a better tomorrow for all Igbo people.
He appreciated all the EU members across the country and in the Diaspora for the prayers and solidarity.
