Godson Brume, the 4th fastest Nigerian man ever, has pled guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm while in the United States on a non-immigrant visa.

The incident took place in February 2025 in Baton Rouge. Brume was in his apartment with another young woman when his ex-girlfriend and mother of his infant child, arrived with the baby. An argument broke out outside the apartment, during which Brume discharged a Glock 43X pistol while the baby was present.

Later, his ex-girlfriend opened the apartment door, saw Brume and the other woman, and a second argument ensued, spilling outside again. Brume discharged the firearm multiple times as the mother of his child fled. Multiple bullet strikes were observed in the apartment complex walls.

Brume also smashed her phone, took the child, and discarded the firearm in nearby shrubs before deputies detained him. He now faces up to 15 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, up to 3 years of supervised release, and possible deportation.

Brume has a Personal Best (PB) of 9.90s over 100m, winning Silver at the NCAA Championships in 2023 and also was a part of the LSU 4x100m quartet that set the NCAA Record of 37.90s in the same year and won the National title.
