Our attention has been drawn to a series of false, misleading, and defamatory statements circulating on social media by one Dodoh Okoafor regarding ABN TV’s reportage of the unfortunate killing of a Nigerian soldier in Aba.

For the sake of clarity and public record, ABN TV hereby states as follows:
1. The Incident Occurred on 21st November 2025
At about 3:20pm on 21st November 2025, information reached our newsroom concerning the killing of a Nigerian soldier by suspected cultists in Aba. In line with global journalism standards, ABN TV immediately commenced verification and fact-finding from relevant security sources and eyewitnesses.
2. ABN TV Published Its Report on 24th November After Verification
Contrary to misinformation being circulated, ABN TV did not rush to publish. The verified report, “BREAKING: Tension As Gunman Kill Nigerian Soldier In Abia, was released on 24th November 2025 across our website and Facebook platforms.
Every detail published was based on credible, cross-checked information obtained during our investigation.
3. Publications Made by one Dodoh Okoafor Are False and Misleading
On 26th and 27th November 2025, Mr. Dodoh Okoafor, a Special Adviser in the Abia State Government, made several unverified and defamatory posts attacking ABN TV and its CEO, Mr. Ifeanyi Okali.
His comments: Misrepresented the facts surrounding the incident, Wrongly accused ABN TV of misconduct without any prior clarification, Sought to damage the long-standing professional reputation of our organisation, For the avoidance of doubt: ABN TV stands by its report, its process, and its professional integrity.
4. ABN TV Attempted to Clarify the Matter Privately
Upon seeing Mr. Okoafor’s publications, ABN TV Management placed two phone calls to him seeking clarification and offering to provide accurate context.
It is regrettable that a public official chose social media attacks over responsible engagement.
5. ABN TV Will Not Be Intimidated or Distracted
As a credible media organisation operating within the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, ABN TV will continue to:
Report the news accurately and responsibly
Defend its integrity against falsehoods
Uphold professional journalistic standards at all times
We urge the public to disregard any misleading claims circulating online.
6. Formal Petition Submitted
In view of the severity of the defamatory statements, ABN TV has formally submitted a petition to the appropriate authorities for investigation and redress.
