American rapper Nicki Minaj recently spoke about her African heritage, revealing that her birth name, Onika, is the Trinidadian form of the Igbo name Onyekachi.

This revelation followed a fan’s tribute to her recent appearance at the United Nations, where she addressed the issue of jihadist attacks on Christians in Nigeria.
In a social media post, the fan emphasized the deeper meaning of her name, stating:
“Onika signifies a steadfast belief in a supreme power that surpasses all others in greatness. Let my Nigerian Barbz and friends attest to how God prepares someone for greatness even before their birth!”
Minaj responded to the post by confirming the connection, expressing pride in her African roots and the spiritual importance of her name.
“Will it get even more mysterious if I told you the tattoo on my arm means ‘God is with me’ in Chinese?” she added.
