Former Senate President Adolphus Wabara has condemned the life imprisonment slammed on Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, saying the judgment is not just against one man — “it is Ndi-Igbo they have jailed for life.”

Wabara expressed shock that a Boko Haram leader got 5 years, while Kanu whom he described as a non-violent freedom advocate received a life sentence.
He insisted the ruling will be appealed immediately.
Igbo groups including the Igbo Women Assembly (IWA) also rejected the judgment, calling it pre-written, unfair, and proof that Igbo people do not receive equal justice in Nigeria.
Traditional rulers, academics and civil society leaders added that the ruling shows deep-seated bias and contradicts previous Court of Appeal decisions that had freed Kanu on similar charges.
Across the region, tension is rising as many describe the sentence as a direct attack on Igbo dignity, identity and legitimate demands for justice.
