Ex-Abia Governor, T.A Orji Resigns From PDP

In the resignation letter addressed to the PDP Ward 1 chairman in Umuahia North local government area of Abia State, Orji said his withdrawal was with immediate effect.

According to the letter, which did not indicate his next move, the decision followed β€œwide consultations with family and associates.”

β€œI write to formally tender my resignation from membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) effective immediately,” the letter read.

β€œI appreciate the opportunities and experiences gained during my time as a member of the party. Please accept this letter as a formal notice of my withdrawal from the party,”

Orji came to limelight in the state in 1999 when the second civilian governor of the state, Orji Uzor Kalu appointed him as his chief of staff.

β€Žβ€ŽIn 2007, he succeeded Kalu by winning the governorship election on the platform of Progressive Peoples Alliance. In July 2010, he defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

β€Žβ€ŽHe later moved in August to the PDP on which platform he was re-elected in 2011. He was elected on the PDP platform to the Red Chamber 2015 and 2019.
