Uyo buzzed with energy as young creatives, photographers, and art lovers converged for the Visual Conference and Award Night 2025 — a two-day celebration of imagination, storytelling, and artistic brilliance.
Spearheaded by Idara Adiakpan, the Governor’s Chief Photographer and one of Nigeria’s leading creative voices, the event featured exhibitions, workshops, and an inspiring award ceremony recognizing excellence across 15 visual art categories.
Representing Governor Umo Eno, Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi commended Adiakpan’s fearless creativity, describing her as “a determined star who turned passion into purpose.” She encouraged young Nigerians to embrace that same spirit of innovation and resilience.
In her speech, Adiakpan emphasized that photography isn’t just an art form — it’s a universal language that connects people and tells stories that endure. With 587 entries submitted from across the country, the conference showcased the strength and unity of Nigeria’s growing visual arts community.
The event also featured thought-provoking sessions led by industry leaders such as Hon. Aisha Adamu Augie (DG, CBAAC), Mr. Ayo Adeagbo (Special Assistant to the President on Arts, Culture and Creative Economy), Eduwem Ukpong, Emmanuel Oyeleke, and Kelechi Amadi-Obi. They all applauded the initiative for inspiring young creatives and boosting the nation’s creative economy.
Beyond the glitz of the awards, breathtaking art exhibitions filled the venue — each piece a bold statement of culture, vision, and innovation.
As Nigeria’s creative industry gains more momentum, platforms like the Visual Conference remind us that celebrating artists goes beyond applause — it’s about investing in the imagination that powers our future.
Kudos to Idara Adiakpan and her team for making creativity the spotlight of the national conversation.
