A social media post by a Nigerian lady expressing her reservations about celebrating the late evangelist Uma Ukpai has stirred mixed reactions online.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @ennyola0015, the lady acknowledged that the late preacher carried the aura of a true evangelist but said she found it difficult to celebrate him because of what she described as his “methods.”

According to her, once the gospel becomes tied to material gain, it loses its spiritual essence.

“Umah Ukpai carries the aura of a true evangelist, but if we look deeper into his methods, I find it hard to celebrate him even in death. Once the Gospel comes with an invoice, the ministry is lost,” she wrote.

The post has since generated debate among users on the platform. While some supported her views, others criticised her remarks, describing them as disrespectful to the deceased cleric.

A user, @KingAsoVila, commented: “So he did not live to see the coming of Jesus. Lol. May his soul find peace in thy Lord.”

Another user, @MichaelEdet, wrote: “Madam, you too talk. Try dey quiet sometimes.”

However, some users praised the late preacher, including @ApostleExodus, who wrote: “Kai, you left without me seeing you in person, but I will still connect to your grace even in the grave. Respect, papa of my generation. Rest well, daddy.”

Uma Ukpai, a renowned Nigerian evangelist and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, was known for his decades-long ministry and crusades across Nigeria and beyond.
