Allwell Ihunda’s Re-Election Campaign Rally Sweeps Through Port Harcourt

See the outstanding projects Sir Allwell Ihunda did in his first tenure, which will get him re-elected comes 30th August.

Sir (Hon.) Allwell Ihunda DSSRS, JP’s re-election campaign gained significant momentum as his mayoral campaign team staged a high-energy rally across the Township area of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area (Wards 5, 6, and 7).

The campaign, attended by thousands of residents, community leaders, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders, showcased broad support for Ihunda’s second-term bid.

 

PDP leaders pledged their total backing for Ihunda and his councillorship candidates ahead of the August 30, 2025 elections.

 

Speaking at the event, Sir Ihunda reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive and people-centered leadership:

 

“We have laid a solid foundation with landmark projects across Port Harcourt City. My second term will focus on economic empowerment, expanding opportunities, empowering people, and deepening development in every community,” he said.

First-Term Achievements: Over 30 Landmark Projects Across Port Harcourt

During his first tenure as Mayor of Port Harcourt City LGA.

 

Sir Allwell Ihunda delivered more than 30 landmark projects, spread across all 20 wards in Port Harcourt LGA, schools, and communities.

 

Healthcare & Education:

Port Harcourt City Council Healthcare Centre – Constructed at the Council Secretariat to improve healthcare access.

 

NYSC Lodge/Apartments Built to enhance the welfare of corps members.

 

200-Seat Capacity Hall at Nkpolu Oroworukwo Secondary School –

Constructed for academic and community use.

 

Renovated schools including:

 

State Primary School Orogbum (D-Line), Port Harcourt – completely renovated and furnished.

 

State Primary School 2, D-Line, Port Harcourt – fully refurbished and equipped.

 

State Primary School, Ibadan Street, Old Port Harcourt Township – renovated and furnished.

 

Nkpolu Oroworukwo Community Secondary School – completion and furnishing of six classroom blocks.

Scholarship Programme.

 

– Port Harcourt youths sponsored to study at Charkin Maritime Academy are now earning foreign currency outside the country.

 

Infrastructure & Urban Renewal:

Ohiamini Street Reconstruction–

Reconstructed and fitted with solar-powered streetlights.

 

Flood & Erosion Control Projects – Deep drainage constructed in Akwuzu Street, Rumuwoji.

 

Abali Motor Park Renovation – Upgraded and modernized for commuters.

 

Nkpolu Oroworukwo Motor Park Renovation – Revitalized to improve public transportation.

 

Multiple 500KVA Transformers were donated to communities, including Oroworukwo, Orochiri, and Diobu axis, to boost the electricity supply.

 

ICT & Economic Development:

 

Digital Tools Mall, Rumuwoji.

 

Global ICT Centre, Nkpolu Oroworukwo –

 

Ultra-Modern Market at Oroworukwo – Built to boost commerce and trade in the area.

 

Community Development:

 

Ozuboko Community Hall – Constructed for community use and gatherings.

 

26-Room Public Toilets – Built across multiple waterfront and urban settlements, including Marine Base and Captain Amangala, to promote sanitation.

 

Water Projects – Implemented in Orogbum, Oroabali, and Rumuwoji waterfront communities.

 

Solar-Powered Streetlights – Installed in Rumuwoji, Orochiri, Orogbum, and Oroabali communities to improve security.

 

Staff Facilities for Federal Agencies – Constructed at the Council Secretariat, Moscow Road.

 

Human Capital Development & Empowerment:

 

Skills Acquisition Programmes – Over 1,500 beneficiaries trained in vocations across Port Harcourt LGA, picked from all the wards in Port Harcourt LGA.

 

Widows’ Empowerment Grants – 200 widows across Port Harcourt wards were empowered with business grants.

 

Youth Engagement Initiatives – Career development and entrepreneurship programmes across the LGA.

 

Environmental Sustainability:

Anti-Bunkering Campaigns – Sustained action against illegal crude oil refining (Kpofire) in waterfront communities, leading to a significant reduction in soot pollution across Port Harcourt.

 

Looking Ahead:

With these achievements spread across Rumuwoji, Oroworukwo, Oroabali, Orogbum, Diobu, Marine Base, and Township areas, etc, Sir Ihunda urged residents to renew their mandate by voting for him and PDP councillorship candidates on August 30, 2025.

 

“The evidence of progress is visible in every ward. With your support, we will build a stronger, more prosperous, and inclusive Port Harcourt City,” he assured.
