Senator Ireti Kingibe has stated that Nasir El-Rufai delivered better results as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) than the current minister, Nyesom Wike.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm on Tuesday, Kingibe said that while Wike is widely praised for his infrastructure projects in Abuja, many of these initiatives fail to address the real needs of everyday residents.
According to her, infrastructure alone does not define a successful FCT minister. She argued that El-Rufai, who served during the Olusegun Obasanjo administration, not only built roads but also engaged directly with the challenges faced by Abuja residents.
“If you ask anyone from the FCT who the most effective minister has been, they’ll likely say El-Rufai. He constructed roads and listened to the people,” she said.
She criticized Wike for being disconnected from grassroots concerns, citing examples such as relocating facilities like abattoirs without providing adequate infrastructure or security in the new locations.
“A good minister must be in touch with the people’s realities—not just build roads,” Kingibe added.
