A respected Presbyterian cleric from Ohafia Local Government Area, Rev Ukpai Kalu Otah, has urged the people of Abia North and the entire state to throw their weight behind Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for continued representation in the National Assembly beyond 2027.
Speaking during a Sunday service, Rev Otah described Senator Kalu as “the most qualified, most experienced, and most impactful senator Abia North has ever produced.”
He stressed that Kalu’s return to the Senate in 2027 would make him a third-term lawmaker, a ranking status that would bring greater influence, visibility, and developmental projects to Abia North and Abia State as a whole.
“We need someone with experience and influence. Kalu’s return means better roads, increased federal presence, more employment opportunities, and a louder voice for our people. Uche Chukwumerije spent 12 years in the Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe has been there since 2007, Ali Ndume is a fourth term senator, Ahmed Lawan, and even Nkeiruka Onyejeocha was in the House of Representatives for 12 years,” Rev Otah said.
He further noted that Senator Orji Kalu remains the only politician from Abia who enjoys massive goodwill across all three senatorial zones of Abia North, Abia Central, and Abia South, due to his outstanding legacy as a two-term governor and a performing senator.
The cleric recalled that Governor Alex Otti had publicly stated he was adopting Kalu’s governance template for developing Abia State.
“Even Governor Otti admitted that he’s using Orji Kalu’s development blueprint. That says a lot. President Obasanjo didn’t call him ‘Action Governor’ for nothing, and now he’s ‘Action Senator’.”
Rev Otah also highlighted Kalu’s far-reaching economic contributions to Abia State, which include the Sun Heaven Hotel in Umuahia, a cashew processing factory in Igbere, a metal conversion plant, a paper conversion plant in Aba, Sun FM radio stations in both Igbere and Aba, an ongoing private university in Igbere, and a renewable energy production factory, the first of its kind in the South East.
“He is not just a politician; he’s a builder, a visionary, and a God-fearing leader. His investments are improving lives and creating jobs. We must not allow outsiders to dim our light.”
The cleric called on party stakeholders, community leaders, and constituents to ensure Senator Kalu returns unopposed in 2027, describing his continued representation as “a divine mission.”
“This is about legacy, progress, and purpose. Senator Kalu must continue. For the sake of Abia North, we must all stand behind him.”
