Senator Ishaku Abbo, a close political ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has clarified recent speculations surrounding the choice of political platform by the emerging opposition coalition.
In a statement to the media, Abbo confirmed that the coalition is working towards adopting and unveiling the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform, not the African Democratic Alliance (ADA) as wrongly reported in some quarters.
“There is no confusion. The coalition is aligning with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), not ADA. We are at an advanced stage in our consultations and will soon unveil the party officially,” he stated.
According to Senator Abbo, the ADC stands out as a credible, inclusive, and nationally accepted party with structures across the country, making it the most suitable vehicle for the coalition’s objectives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He added that high-level meetings are ongoing with political stakeholders, youth groups, and civil society organizations across Nigeria to build a strong and unified front capable of offering Nigerians a real alternative to the current administration.
The move signals growing momentum within opposition circles and renewed anticipation about Atiku Abubakar’s next political direction.
