Akash Vatsa, an Indian passenger, narrowly escaped tragedy after flying on the same Air India Boeing 787 just two hours before it crashed near Ahmedabad, claiming 242 lives. Shaken by the close call, Vatsa described the eerie realization that he could have been among the victims of Thursday’s devastating accident.”
According to him, the plane showed signs of technical malfunction, including a faulty air conditioning system and other electronic failures, during his earlier flight from Delhi to Ahmedabad.
Taking to his X account shortly after the crash, Vatsa wrote, “I was on the same damn flight 2 hours before it took off from AMD. I came in on this from DEL-AMD. Noticed unusual things in the place.”
The Air India flight, which lost signal shortly after departure from Ahmedabad, was carrying 169 Indians, 53 British nationals, seven Portuguese citizens, and one Canadian. According to reports, only one person survived.
In response, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the crash “heartbreaking beyond words,” while Air India confirmed that a special team had been dispatched to Ahmedabad to assist families and support investigations.
Global leaders, including Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, have extended condolences.
