My Son Went Under The knife to Remove A Strange Growth In His Nostrils

By: Baale Yanmife

At first we thought it was something minor. Little did we know that it was the beginning of our travails. Doctors said he had nasal polyps. That was the first time I heard anything like that! We were told the growth was too big and required surgery. They said endoscopic surgery was our best bet because the growth originated from near his right eye. He ran the risk of losing an eye. That was one of the toughest days of my life. We kept jumping from hospital to hospital hoping to find a solution that didn’t involve surgery but got none!

He took antibiotics that were prescribed, used spray…. nothing! Instead, the growth started to increase in size and was smelling badly. He stopped attending school because his classmates were getting irritated. No one wanted to associate with him. We kept doing steam inhalation, hoping to at least reduce the smell. He was always indoors! I couldn’t focus on my job, his mom was always crying. Everyone looked up to me. I had to be strong especially for my son but It was really a tough time.

We needed โ‚ฆ1 million naira for his endoscopic surgery and had no money. It was a time we could barely save. Life was tough! We had so many sleepless nights. It was a traumatizing experience. I was just there; helpless. My son was writhing in pains and I could do nothing about it. When I couldn’t take it anymore, I sought help from social media. That was my last resort. It took a lot of courage to do it but I have no regrets whatsoever. With the help of friends, family and strangers I only met on this app, we were able to raise the entire sum and he had a successful surgery.

Again, I’d like to thank everyone that contributed in cash and kind, those that championed my case like it was theirs, those that shared across other platforms, those who called, those who prayed and those that visited, may God bless y’all abundantly. Your contributions were immense and I’m forever in your debt. I’m glad to say I’m in a much better place now and have been/will keep supporting anyone with health challenges to the best of my ability because I’ve been down that road and I’ll tell you for free…. it’s a terrible place to be. We saw h*ll but came back. God is faithful โœ….

Social media is a powerful tool when you know how to use it.
