Catholic Priest and spiritual Director; Adoration Ministry Enugu, Rev. Fr Ejike Mbaka, has broken his silence over the recent controversy involving online commentator, Ogechi Njaka, stating that she has not yet faced the full weight of legal consequences — but that could soon change.
In a strongly worded statement, Fr Mbaka confirmed hearing reports that Ogechi Njaka was recently detained in Abuja, but he downplayed the seriousness of that incident. “Those who arrested her might not have a strong case, but we are coming with our own,” he said.
The priest recalled how Ogechi Njaka had previously taken to social media to accuse him of secretly having a wife and children — a claim he says is completely false and damaging to his reputation as a Catholic priest.
“We asked her to apologize and retract her statements, but she refused. Now she must either prove her claims or pay the price for defamation,” Fr Mbaka stated.
He went further to list three conditions that could save her from the impending legal action:
1. She must present the alleged wife and children she claimed belong to him.
2. She must publicly apologize and withdraw her statements.
3. She must name the people who sent her to spread the false accusations. According to Fr Mbaka, “Without revealing her sponsors, any public apology is meaningless.”
The priest insists that Ogechi Njaka is not acting alone and believes a group is working behind the scenes to tarnish his image.
The case is rapidly gaining public attention, raising serious concerns about defamation, and the abuse of digital platforms for character assassination.
